November 30, 2009: Steward of a Smile!

ray

I met Ray on my way back from the beach. He walks very slowly and struggles a little with brain surgery. And yet, there is so much about Ray that melts my heart. He walks every morning and brings the newspaper at the foot of my neighbors’ driveways and brings them to the door. My next door neighbor Kate says he is an added gift that comes with her paper. She thinks of him while she sips her coffee. However, she does say that she wishes he wouldn’t bring the paper closer to the house on weekends, because her dogs really wake the dead on the day she can sleep in!

How many dogs will be told to hush today? How many of us wish their dogs would still bark after they have died? We love our pets in good times and bad, sickness and health. We love them and honor them until death do we part.

Thank you Ray, for bringing the paper to my neighbors. And thank you for your glorious eyes and soul. May you have many more glorious mornings here in Atlantic Beach. You are a true steward of your smile and soul.

Have a blessed week!

Love, joy, peace,

Father Ron Moses +
