February 7, 2011: Seafood Eating and Sustainability


There are some types of seafood that we may eat that are more environmentally friendly than others. Every time we shop for seafood we should ask where and how our seafood was caught or farmed. Commercial fishing has it’s darker side and seafood vendors need to know that we as customers, care about where our seafood come from and how it affects the surrounding environment.

The New England Aquarium has put out its 2011 Ocean Friendly Seafood Species List that supports sustainability for the continued future.
