September 19, 2011: Leaning Into the Heart of God

~by Susi Pittman

Creator, you invite us into the deeper realities of life and ask us to connect to the heart center where you abide. Remind me to welcome your Spirit so that I may receive the many ways in which your symphony of love plays. Thank you for the way your enlivening touch moves through my being. Remind me often that I am the melody you breathe into me. Let my gifts and love be the songs that heal the world. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and put a new and right spirit within me.

Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart, since as a member of one body I am called to peace. And may I be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in me richly as you teach and admonish me with all wisdom and as I sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude to you My God.

You stand at the door of my heart, asking for an entrance. You desire to come and share the intimacy of your presence with me.

I have days when I resist your movement and message. I seek you in stillness, but forget you in busyness.

Many times I place my heart into fear and trembling through living in the past or future which prevents me from attending to your presence around me.

I often don’t believe in your gift of Grace and how much you love me just the way I am, so you invite me to relationship with you in prayer to find that love.

I am waiting to receive your power working through me so I can do more than I can ever ask or imagine.

You are a God who accepts the uniqueness of each individual. You ask me to extend this kind of love to those who challenge my compassion and patience.

May your song of love instill a gratitude for each new day filled with possibilities. Help me to move beyond whatever keeps me from union with you.
