November 17, 2014: As Science Moves Forward, Keep Your Focus

~by Susi Pittman

I rue the day when nature, all of creation and its creatures were no longer the beauty of paradise promised by God and became the object of scientific research. Nature and God are so closely aligned and anyone who has spent the least amount of time alone in the out of doors, gazing upon the natural beauty of the material world or a star lit sky has been awed in some way by the marvels there.

I have found my way by keeping my focus on a world that continues to evolve flowing from Christ which is a personal and transcendent center for all that is. I have not allowed science to prejudice me by its desire to make me feel that the meaning of things can only be found by its explanation of the smallest elements.

Case in point, the Higgs Boson field which, the media decided to sensationalize naming it the “God particle.”  You get from the writings and information circulating that it is used almost a tongue-in-cheek gesture on the media’s part. As of 2013, physicists are completely convinced that they have proven that the Higgs boson exists. Their search has been ongoing for over 40 years. It required the creation of one of mankind’s most expensive technological achievements, the CERN’s Large Hadron Collider, located in Switzerland. Scientists knew that the particle existed but, proving its existence has been incredibly elusive. Now, here we are today, with a scientific community rejoicing in their discovery because this field is found to be present in all things and throughout space…this smallest of created energy.

As Christians, we should be rejoicing, that science once again, like it has done many times before (i.e. the reality that there was a great flood; The scientific discovery that identified the universe in five terms, time, space, matter, power and motion—which can all be found in the first few paragraphs of Genesis) has proven truths that have been written in the Holy Bible.

I am disposed to believe that the One Love which created the universe and “ordered” all that exists to be what and where it is, will be vindicated in science one day. There will continue to be great minds born into this world that God will gift with incredible insights and wisdom beyond this world that one day, when God decides, God may be all in all as we have been promised.
