July 31, 2013: Praising God is Creation’s Call

~by Susi Pittman

Worthy art thou, O Lord our God, to receive glory and honor and power; for thou hast created all things, and because of thy will they existed, and were created.
~Revelation 4:11~

The Book of Revelations is so powerful in its imagery. The verse above exalts the fact that all creation, ALL CREATION was brought into being because God wanted it to be. Not because He had need of it, but because out of His great love and for His pleasure He deigned to create this universe and fill the earth with life. All things accorded a purpose, all things accorded an order and all things loved by Him.

God desired life! Not robots, droids and drones. Not mimickers and machines. LIFE!

The diversity that exists in the world’s flora and fauna, from beetles that roll dung balls, to the odd aardvark with piggish face and armadillo torso, to the regal horse and the devoted dog. God does have a sense of humor and an “eye” for beauty as evidenced in the incredible world around us. In futility for great intellectual wording, I can only surmise in my human naiveté that God had great fun in creating this world, even if He had never created human beings.

In turn, all creation was created to praise its Creator and to sing the song of the universe. Psalm 148 is the Hymn of All Creation to the Almighty Creator. All creatures in the heavens and on the earth are called upon to join in the hymn of praise that universal mankind should sing before God. Again, the key phrase here, ALL CREATION.

Leave your computers, your shopping binges and your busy-ness and take a walk out into the sanctuary of creation that is removed from the mimickers and machines. Hear the eternal music and the praise of everything that loves life!

Take your dog with you. Watch as he looks to you with loving exuberance, just being with you, licking your hand, enthusiastically in the moment to do nothing but to listen to you and act upon your words and your unseen and unheard directives. Take your lead from him and approach the Creator likewise. You will find refreshment in spirit unlike the world can give!

All of creation was created to return to the Creator. The created world outside of man was created with a “particular good,” receiving God to the extent that it is capable. Divine Providence guides it. Man is that part of creation which was created in the image of God, being given intellect, rationale and free-will, allowing him to choose to love and want, or not to love and want God.

Choose to move towards the Creator today by becoming more a part of the harmonious song that sings in praise to God. Work to protect and care for the extended family of creation entrusted into your hands by the Creator.

Jesus came to redeem all creation. He said so!

Behold, I make all things new!
~Revelation 21:5~
