February 1, 2017: An American First

~by Susi Pittman

“Life is winning in America,” was the bold statement that Vice President Mike Pence, first V.P. EVER in the history of America to attend and speak at the March for Life in Washington D.C., spoke. Pence was raised a Catholic, but in 1978-81 began blending his Catholicism with Evangelical Protestanism. He founded himself in the teachings of Christ, supporting Christian moral values in all foundations of his life.

What a day for America, where after 44 years, government at the highest level is now saying, we do not want abortion, it is good to say God Bless America and that we are against the culture of death and the ripping of babies from the wombs of their mothers. Pence continued by calling on the pro-life movement to be loving and compassionate: “There is nothing stronger than gentleness,” he said. “I believe we will continue to win the hearts and minds of a rising generation.”

I believe he is right.

There comes a break-point in the hearts and minds of a conscionable people, by which evil can become so pervasive that they can no longer accept nor allow its continuance.

I am for the first time in a long time, seeing a younger generation on our American horizon that are bringing promise to a turn-around in our country’s moral direction. Contrary to what you see on literally all of the national news networks, this younger generation is a large and committed group touting a new morality that harkens to a new hope in bringing light to a darkened democracy. They were part of the force that confounded the election predictions of the leftist order by supporting Donald Trump and an administration of “life.”

I have seen many of the younger generation seeking the moral high-road and wanting to perpetuate a new ideology of kindness, responsibility, spirituality and yes, religiosity. They are done with the lack of respect for the role of family, the hostility to religious liberty and the lack of civility that has made itself known in a huge way in recent weeks.

Young people are not buying the mantra of a population crisis and the need to limit families. They see the beauty that the traditional family brings to life in harmony with the natural realm. They are embracing the blessings of all children and the divine source from which they come.

Mike Pence spoke to that: “On behalf of the President of the United States,” he said, “we thank you for your stand for life” and “for your compassion, for your love of the women and children of America. And be assured, along with you, we will not grow weary, we will not rest until we restore a culture of life in America for ourselves and for our posterity.”

I see young men and women who yearn for peace and the democratic process that insures the peace and order that governs our American society. They don’t believe that civil law is the begin all and end all in determining the morality of this country. They do believe that religion is part of the process and its place in America is “welcomed.”

They are a generation that sees the traditional family as paramount to the values that a God-fearing nation seeks to be embued with. Where radically altered, and superficially cloaked relationships mimicking traditional family values is indeed detrimental and a cause for chaos.

President Trump has signaled this generation and all of America that he will be loyal to the pro-life movement.

And if you didn’t believe him, he certainly made it perfectly clear as he chose Neil Gorsuch, an American federal appellate judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit to be an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Gorsuch is very strong on religious freedoms, having successfully defended Hobby Lobby and The Little Sisters of the Poor. He is expected to be a proponent of pro-life.

We have been living through manipulated times, where we have seen unsavory agendas pushed through our courts and disingenuous and harmful programs introduced into our public schools. We have seen a culture of death develop that is tolerated under the false auspices of health care and common good. We live in a country where what was wholesome and good is wrong and what is belligerent and crass is right. Where news agencies have left the purity of reporting “just the news” and have moved into the position of being the self-proclaimed dictators of the moral compass, deciders of truth, inciters of chaos, propagators of spin and falsehoods and watchdogs of all who fail to embrace secular relativism and humanism.

I take heart in looking at our younger generation who indeed is stepping up to the plate and looking to hit the home-run for Christian morality in America.

Hooray! And may God bless each of you in your journey to “celebrate life” anew in this great land of ours.
