October 16, 2013: Autumn’s Beauty

~ by Mary Galvano

I have a dear friend that lives in Boston who is a professional photographer. She often sends me homemade cards containing thoughtful words and poetry with some of the most breathtaking photos in celebration of the different holidays that circle the calendar year. I especially love her photos of autumn in New England. The photos just put me in awe at the handwork of our Lord, and being a Floridian I long to be there even more. For those, like me, who aren’t able to go north to be surrounded by this beautiful artwork of God I wanted to bring a glimpse of its beauty to you. Please, enjoy the poem and the video at the end.

October

~by Robert Frost

O hushed October morning mild,
Thy leaves have ripened to the fall;
Tomorrow’s wind, if it be wild,
Should waste them all.
The crows above the forest call;
Tomorrow they may form and go.
O hushed October morning mild,
Begin the hours of this day slow.
Make the day seem to us less brief.
Hearts not averse to being beguiled,
Beguile us in the way you know.
Release one leaf at break of day;
At noon release another leaf;
One from our trees, one far away.
Retard the sun with gentle mist;
Enchant the land with amethyst.
Slow, slow!
For the grapes’ sake, if they were all,
Whose leaves already are burnt with frost,
Whose clustered fruit must else be lost—
For the grapes’ sake along the wall.

I hope you enjoy and relax to this video of magnificent scenery that only God can create set to the tranquil music of Vivaldi:

Happy Harvest!
