June 20, 2011: A Trinity of Love

~ by Mary Galvano

When somebody says something misleading about someone that you deeply love the immediate response is to defend that person and explain all the wonderful qualities of that person. In the beginning times of our Church this happened for early Christians with the misunderstandings of the Holy Trinity.

Although nonbelievers questioned this phenomenon, the Apostles defended the Trinity by the explanations and proclamations given in the both the Nicene and Apostle’s Creed: I believe in one God; I believe in Jesus Christ; I believe in the Holy Spirit. These words were written out of love for the Church and so that people would believe. The trinity was created and formed out of love so that the world might be saved.

When you love someone you don’t want to be separated and so the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit became one through love. Through love we can become a part of the Holy Trinity, too. We are given freely the Trinity of Love. All we have to do is reach out to God and ask for it. Love the Holy Trinity and love one another. This is the path to heaven. At the end of the day, when our lives are over and we are about to enter eternity, God isn’t going to be impressed with how much we accomplished, but, with how much we loved.
