January 9, 2012: Christ-Mass Is Here To Stay

~ by Mary Galvano

During the last days of Christmas the air is filled with a bitter sweetness as the Christmas decorations get put away in boxes and we have to wait another year for the celebrations to begin again. After Epiphany and the Baptism of Jesus, a new year begins.

Christmas, however, isn’t over. It is with us every day of the year in the Mass, which is Christ-Mass. We can hold that spirit of Christmas in our hearts to guide us throughout our lives. This gift is ours to keep! It is our light through the darkness.

Sometimes, though, that light can disappear. The Magi had this happen on their journey. They started out by following a star, but then it disappeared. But the Magi did not give up. As they set out for Bethlehem in blind faith, suddenly the star reappeared. Have you ever been on a journey for God when all of a sudden the guidance you need goes away? This is a test of faith. Look to the Magi and follow their example and keep going. Sooner or later that mighty hand will reappear to help you.

Remember the spirit of Christmas is with us always, in our hearts and in the Mass. We celebrate Christ-Mass everyday of the year in the Catholic Church. How blessed we are! This is the greatest gift we have. Never give up on the journey God leads you on. Walk by faith, not by sight. Commit your life to the Lord and trust Him, He will come through for you. When you do this you glorify the Lord.

Have a happy Christ-Mass!
