February 6, 2012: Worship the Creator

~ by Mary Galvano

The early hours of the morning are when I like to get up to experience the awakening of a new day. I love hearing the first sounds of birds singing in an ever so gentle manner as if they are saying, “Wake up. A new day is starting.” It is a lovely way to wake up. Soon the darkness will be broken by the subtle hint of light coming over the horizon and then the sun will rise to greet us.

This is one of the things I love as a professional golfer. When I played competitively I would sometimes have to be at the golf course very early. I loved being around nature as it was waking up. The smell of freshly cut grass, dew covering the ground, the crisp air and the sounds of birds singing were all calming to my nerves before I would have to tee off for a big event. These things helped put life in perspective and reminded me of what was important as I thanked God for all His creations.

God’s creations are marvelous. They are full of wonder and beauty. We are His creations. Our Creator formed every cell on our bodies just for us. We are His masterpieces. The world, though, seems to forget this. It puts all its faith and trust in people, even to the point of worship, instead of in God.

In America we vote for people to lead our country and when they fail we wonder why. Sure, there are some who are better than others at running things but we should not put our hope in people alone. A wise priest once said, people will let us down but God will never let us down. In God alone we need to put all our trust.

As we marvel at creation and enjoy its surroundings, remember to worship the Creator and not creation. Creation is a precious gift from God. It is a gift to be treasured and it is God that is to be praised.
