February 5, 2014: Singing the National Anthem

~ by Mary Galvano

When I heard that Renee Fleming, America’s most famous and gifted opera star in modern times was going to sing the National Anthem at this year’s Super Bowl, I immediately got choked up at the choice. She is one of my favorite singers and she gave us an example of how the National Anthem should be sung. I had goose bumps the whole time and of course I cried. Not only did she sing superbly she also brought class and dignity to our country.

For those of you that did not have a chance to hear Renee Fleming please enjoy the clip from the 2014 Super Bowl. For those of you who did, here’s a chance to hear it once again.
