April 10, 2014: Creation Has a God-Given Destiny

~ by Mary Galvano

I was reading my little reflections book this morning and came across a wonderful statement in it that stated that creation has a God-given destiny beyond history. This statement holds so much hope for us and I believe it is true. We all have to face the fact that one day our life on Earth will end and we will enter into another stage of life.

Life on Earth is pretty short compared to the one after it. But, because of Jesus we have so much to look forward to. Easter will be here next week reminding us of that great hope of eternal life that must be kept in our hearts.

There is much violence and death surrounding us. We have natural disasters and terrorist attacks that cause us to be uneasy, making us aware of how fragile human life really is. Yet, we can rest assured knowing we can face tomorrow because our Savior lives. I believe not only our spiritual lives have a God-given destiny beyond death but, our human lives as well. The same with creation, I believe it has a God-given destiny beyond death.

Thus says the Lord GOD:
O my people, I will open your graves
and have you rise from them,
and bring you back to the land of Israel.
Then you shall know that I am the LORD,
when I open your graves and have you rise from them,
O my people!
I will put my spirit in you that you may live,
and I will settle you upon your land;
thus you shall know that I am the LORD.
I have promised, and I will do it, says the LORD. Ezekiel 37:12-14

Only by faith in Jesus Christ can we walk on in victory, though! Jesus died a terrible death, but He did conquer it. Jesus said many times in the Gospels, “Do no be afraid,” and whose last words in Matthew’s Gospel were, “I am with you all days, even to the end of the age.” These words make me tremble. These words keep us going even when the going gets tough.

We have arrived at Holy Week, put your best foot forward and show God how much you love Him and thank Him for what He did for us by sending His only begotten Son.
