March 14, 2011: Still Flying Out of the Desert
~ by Father Ron Camarda
Six Years Later
Six years ago today, March 13, 2005
I flew away from the desert in the Middle East
Writing about my interior soul,
Never thought much about the consequences
Thought I could write it out or off like I normally do
I wrote:
In the Air March 12-13, 2005
Flying away from the desert Almost surreal I am thousands of feet in the sky Traveling over 500 miles per hour to home Where is home? I am different than when I came out here over six months ago There are eight hours we must reencounter before we land in California. I love God, my Father My Beloved My soul thirsts for even more Never to return to where I was. Much to ponder Much to reflect And we have time.

As we enter deeper into Lent, let us ask ourselves a question. Will we come out of this desert experience of Lent truly transformed into God’s love, never to return to where we were?
The director of the movie, “A Tear in the Desert”, Rafal and his wife Julita, are here with me since Saturday. They are visiting with me to help add soul to the story of the movie. It is a little difficult to be with someone videoing your life and family so intently. This couple is so spiritual and Catholic. Their last major motion picture was about Father Jerzy Popieluszko who was murdered in 1984, the year I entered the seminary for the Diocese of St. Augustine. He tells me he was profoundly affected and feels the presence of Father Jerzy. Pope Benedict beatified Father Jerzy last June 2010. Father Jerzy was instrumental in helping the people of Poland in their move for Solidarity and greater freedom.
The journey continues.
Have a blessed week!
Love, joy, peace,
Father Ron Moses+
